Year 5 Boot Camp
We had a boot camp today to learn how to be more resilient. We had to work together, communicate with each other and realise it is ok if we fail at first.
Year 5 have been studying 'Forces' in their Science this term. We wanted to investigate whether the size of a parachute affected the air resistance created. We made parachutes of different sizes and then timed the parachutes falling. We learned about fair testing, accurate measuring and averages.
Year 5 wrote newspaper reports and stories about a lighthouse keeper. We watched a short film about his disastrous night, then had to role play different characters from the story and interview each other for information. We also looked at how to write great headlines.
Year 5 used the Greenpeace film (There's a Rang-Tan in My Bedroom) to discuss the importance of looking after our world. We found out about the dangers of deforestation and what we can all do to help.
Year 5 have been studying North America in their Geography lessons. They researched New York and found out some fascinating facts.
Year 5 Forces Investigation
We investigated the connection between weight and mass. We learned about Sir Isaac Newton and used a range of forcemeters.

Cash Quest for Young Carers
We made a donation to Young Carers. We raised over £120 for the Young Carers and we have been invited to an awards ceremony as a result.
Design Technology Craft, Christmas 2019
We have been looking at ways to fold paper to create 3d shapes. We used some of these to make a Christmas Card.
PSHE: Crucial Crew, December 2019
We went to the 'Totally Wicked' stadium in St Helens to learn all about keeping safe. We listened to talks on internet safety, road safety, rail safety and also found out how to make a 999 call. We learned some basic first aid skills.

Y5 and Y6 Girls Football, November 2019
In a St Helens tournament the team played brilliantly. Darcy was particularly commended for outstanding play.
We have been learning about the 50 states in the USA. We had to use our mapping skills to locate and name them.
We worked as a team to construct some of our new Lego kits in our DT lesson.
Y5 DT Christmas Card Design
We have been designing and making 3d Christmas cards. We hope the real versions will look even more fantastic.
Y6 Design Technology
We had a fun afternoon designing and making a moving sleigh for Father Christmas.
Living Things and Their Habitats
We took on the role of wildlife documentary presenters. Our teams had to research the life cycle of different living things and the way they reproduce. We wrote a script and then presented it to the class.
PSHE: Hello Yellow
We supported 'Young Minds' on World Mental Health day. We wanted to show that young people are not alone with their mental health. #helloyellow
The Upper Juniors designed and made their own 'Rainbow Wraps'. They discussed the nutritional value of the different vegetables.
Year 5 Science Investigation
Year 5 wanted to find out how to keep their water cold. They looked at different materials and measured the water temperature at 5 minute intervals.
Remembrance Day, November 2019
Isabel's great grandfather passed away in October at the age of 96. During the second world war he was in the navy. Here are his British medals showing where he had been in the navy, and also a French medal.
